I believe furniture is an art form. Creating fine furniture is not unlike creating a fine painting. Instead of paint, wood provides the infinite palette of colors, grain and figure to complement or contrast the line, proportion and perspective of the design. Instead of brush and paint, a woodworker wields the chisel, saw and plane to construct the finished piece.
I often create furniture designs to capture the unique essence of a piece wood that I have saved for years. I also seek out extraordinary woods to achieve the vision of a furniture piece that will be a one-of-a-kind collector’s item – because each piece I create serves as a functional piece of fine art, an original showcase. But this type of art is one that can be used daily, further smoothed with the touch of loved ones, and warmed by its role in the history of your life.
I consider and treat each client as a collector of fine work and a collaborator in designing the finished product. Clients range from individuals with a concept for a single piece to designers needing multiple items or rooms that embody a specific vision for a home or office.
My commitment to quality is total. If you commission a piece, we become partners in a design evolution that starts with an idea and culminates when the piece goes home
Please see a portfolio of previous private commissions and studio furniture, and feel free to learn more about me and my design process, or contact me to discuss your own handcrafted piece.
You deserve to have furniture worthy of being passed to future generations.
